Es bewirkt insbesondere, dass aus <a href="Blutstammzelle" class="mw-redirect" title="Blutstammzelle">Blutstammzellen</a> mononukleäre <a href="Phagozyt" title="Phagozyt">Phagozyten</a>, wie beispielsweise <a href="Makrophagen" class="mw-redirect" title="Makrophagen">Makrophagen</a> und <a href="Monozyten" class="mw-redirect" title="Monozyten">Monozyten</a>, reifen.<sup id="cite_ref-medmikrinf_3-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-medmikrinf-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Auf molekularer Ebene wird diese Wirkung auf eine Aktivierung des CSF1-Rezeptors zurückgeführt. Diesen <a href="Rezeptor_(Biochemie)" title="Rezeptor (Biochemie)">Rezeptor</a> tragen sämtliche Zellen <a href="Retikulohistiozyt%C3%A4res_System#Das_Mononukleäre_Phagozytensystem_(MPS)" title="Retikulohistiozytäres System">mononukleär-phagozytärer Herkunft</a>, wie z.
